Islamic Design Infused with Cartier’s Timeless Elegance- Exploring The Louvre, Abu Dhabi
So I find myself back in Abu Dhabi. Is it the Louvre that brings me back? Yes. Is it the Cartier exhibit on jewellery inspired by Islamic art there the reason to revisit?
Absolutely! It is spectacular to put it mildly.
For several reasons; it is incredibly well curated, it is displayed in breathtakingly dramatic lighting nuances and uses fabulous visual narrative techniques to help trace architectural and other inspirations into jewellery that captivated visionary Louis Cartier, the third generation of the Atelier Cartier in Paris, to elevate and establish the brand as an iconic design house that attracted the royals and nobility around the world to line up as clients.
Being a brand designer myself, I cannot but marvel at the artistic passion that birthed some of these longstanding Parisienne Luxe brands and how they sustained their design niche with new and differentiated offerings and above all, protected their brand saliency down generations.
So much to learn from their uncompromising and resilient commitment to their vision and brand positioning that perches them perennially in an unassailable haloed brand zone.
That apart, I must say, Abu Dhabi and Dubai seem to be bursting with an intense energy that excites my entrepreneurial brain.
27 years ago, I founded my branding and communication Design House, VGC in India and I am proud to say that it has spread far and wide in its nationwide presence and is also increasingly attracting clients from abroad.
And I feel it would be a very interesting opportunity to have a presence in UAE, through partnerships and collaborations with Communication agencies, Design houses and of course directly with clients.
It is a pretty broad intent to throw out there, but I would love to hear from anyone with interesting ideas.
